24hrs in Bolivia

“Right, border’s shut. Everyone off.” Bloody hell. I’d just gotten to sleep. Looking out the bus’s window, I had no clue where we were. It certainly wasn’t La Paz. “We can maybe get you to Copacabana.” An elderly Bolivian man informed me through a translation app that Copacabana was a tourist town and I’d be able to get to La Paz through there. Images of topical Brazilian beaches flashed into my head. “I suppose it’s one step closer”, my housemate Angus suggested.

Buenos Aires

I woke to a phone call from my housemate. “I’m at the airport. Where are you?” Shit. I slept through my alarm.

Fortunately there was enough time for breakfast beers.

20 hours later we arrived in Buenos Aires. Note Angus’s bloodshot eyes.

We did a lot of sightseeing and eating over the next few days. We saw:

La Casa Rosada (the Presidential Palace)
La Catedral Metropolitana
Puente de la Mujer (The Tango Bridge)
The water and sewage museum
A beautiful bookstore installed in an old theatre
And a tango show!

Phuket

Okay, technically my trip didn’t start here. I flew into George Town in Malaysia with Mum. George Town is nice and definitely worth a visit. On my last night in George Town, disaster struck. My phone got the white screen of death. A common theme for the rest of my trip. With my visa printed out and the name of my hostel written on a notepad, I nakedly embarked on my flight into Thailand.
